November has arrived, and there is a noticeable change around Gateway! The temperatures are becoming more comfortable, our community is filling back up, and the golf course is getting busier each week. It is always exciting to see so many familiar faces returning and to welcome new members and guests to The Club at Gateway.
This is one of my favorite times of the year in Southwest Florida. The weather is ideal for golf, the course is seeing plenty of activity, and our golf calendar is in full swing. With tournaments, weekly games, and plenty of opportunities to get out and play, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Our golf team has been working hard to prepare for the season, and we appreciate the continued support and patience from our year-round members as we completed summer projects and improvements to the golf course. Now that the season is upon us, we are excited to see those efforts come together and provide the best experience possible for our membership.
November also brings some of our biggest events of the season, including our Women’s Member/Member on November 11th and 12th and our Men’s Member/Member on November 13th and 14th. These events are a great opportunity to enjoy some competitive golf while spending time with friends and fellow members.
Gyles’ Golf Tip of the Month
Play the Shot, Not the Swing!
As the season gets busier, it is easy to become focused on your score or the outcome of each shot. Instead, try to focus on the shot you are about to play.
Before every shot, pick a specific target and commit to it. Take a moment to consider the distance, wind, lie, and where you want the ball to finish. Once you have made your decision, step up to the ball and trust your swing.
A simple routine can help:
Pick your target → Visualize the shot → Commit → Swing.
Golf is a game of misses, and even the best players in the world don’t hit every shot perfectly. The goal is to make a good decision, commit to it, and move on to the next shot.
As we head into another busy season, remember that golf is about more than just the scorecard. It is about enjoying the course, spending time with friends, meeting fellow members, and making the most of our beautiful Gateway community.
See you on the course!
