The Gateway Women’s Club
(GWC) recently traveled on a culinary journey to the Mediterranean coast via Taberna Ole in Fort Myers. It was a special evening as 40 members, family and friends gathered to embrace the authentic Spanish cultural experience.
The dining room, adorned with Picasso prints, is a perfect complement to Taberna Ole’s feast of flavors. Led by a talented chef hailing from Catalonia, the kitchen transported our group straight to the heart of Spain. Many enjoyed the restaurant’s signature paellas and other flavorful entrees, while others indulged in Taberna’s extensive menu of Tapas —Spain’s famous small plates. These tempting offerings allowed our tables to become a feast of flavors, where sharing and sampling were the order of the evening. The highlights included Taberna’s number-one seller croquettes, which are crispy, deep-fried delights filled with creamy bechamel and a choice of savory chicken or rich Iberica ham. Another crowd favorite was the bacon-wrapped dates, perfectly balanced with tangy goat cheese. Rounding out the tapas selections were traditional favorites, including tender calamari and a beautifully curated meat and cheese charcuterie spread that looked as good as it tasted.

Beyond the delicious food, the evening was a celebration of the GWC spirit. Seeing 40 familiar and new faces connecting over shared plates reminded us all why these culinary journeys are so special. Whether we were discussing the art on the walls or the flavors on our forks, the sense of community filled the rooms and our hearts. Taberna Ole didn’t just serve us dinner; they provided a backdrop for new memories, conversation, and non-stop laughter.
So, don’t miss our next dining destination! With our attendance numbers hitting new highs, you will want to secure your spot early. In May the group will be dining at Vero’s Italian Eatery, the hottest table in town. Bellissimo! Since opening its doors, Vero’s has taken the city by storm.

Next up in June, members and their guests will head to Gulf Coast Towne Center to Clase Azul for a perfect combination of good vibes and authentic Mexican food.
Taco ‘bout a good time!
