SPRING LUNCHEON: DENIM AND DIAMONDS BY STEPHANIE MENA
Members of Gateway Women’s Club Welcome Spring with Music, Laughter and Friendship
It is often said, “Spring is nature’s way of saying, “Let’s party!” That’s exactly what the Gateway Women’s Club members did at their Spring Luncheon. With the theme of Denim and Diamonds, the women shared friendship, and laughter, and danced to songs from years past.
The music provided by DJ Jay brought everyone to the dance floor. Games added excitement to the afternoon. Prizes were awarded to lucky winners. While playing a game called Name That Tune, Team “The Corner Pocket” said the 1964 Beatles’ song was titled Hard Day’s Night. Wrong! Every word counted, so omitting that simple indefinite article, Team “The Corner Pocket” lost a point. (A HARD DAY’S NIGHT).
As always, food service was prepared under the direction of Sarah Yanovich, Food and Beverage/Service & Banquet Manager for The Club at Gateway. The menu presented a variety of choices: Gateway salad bar, bbq smoked pulled pork, cavatappi pasta primavera, raspberry bbq salmon, honey bourbon chicken skewers, freshly baked cookies and a premium ice cream sundae bar.
Gateway Women’s Club is the gold standard for fun, games, educational events and building community. Some of the committees include Charitable Giving offering an annual scholarship awarded to a local high school student: St. Matthews House; A.N.A.’s Friends, and several other fine local charities. The Sit and Stitch group creates a variety of scarves, infant caps and other needed items often unavailable for people of all ages.
GWC supports area businesses through established groups such as: Gals on the Go, Out to Lunch Bunch, Dining Out, and Broadway Palm Dinner Theater, just to name a few. Special travel events are scheduled throughout the year. Guest speakers are featured each month, at the GWC monthly meeting.
The ladies of GWC are an active group and enjoy Line Dancing, Water Aerobics, and Pool Yoga. Quieter events include Book Club, Bridge 101, Mahjongg, Mexican Train Dominos and others.
Fun was had by all at the GWC Spring Luncheon. Gateway Women’s Club invites new members to add their names to the waiting list and be ready to sparkle and shine like the diamonds you know you are.
