As we welcome July and the start of summer in Florida, many golfers assume it’s time to put the clubs away until cooler weather returns. As your Golf Professional, I’d encourage you to think differently. Summer may be one of the most enjoyable times of the year to experience our club.

The days are longer, the pace is more relaxed, and the golf course takes on a beautiful summer character. Early morning tee times offer comfortable playing conditions, while afternoon rounds often provide stunning skies and memorable sunsets. Summer also presents a wonderful opportunity to improve your game, enjoy the club’s amenities, and spend quality time with family and friends.

For those who are not yet members, July is the perfect time to discover everything our club has to offer. Membership is about much more than access to a golf course. It’s about becoming part of a community that shares a passion for the game, camaraderie, and an active lifestyle.

Whether you’re a seasoned player looking to sharpen your skills or someone new to golf seeking a welcoming environment, our club provides opportunities for every level of golfer. From instructional programs and social events to competitive tournaments and casual rounds, there is always something happening throughout the summer months.

As temperatures rise, we encourage all golfers to stay hydrated, take advantage of shaded areas around the course, and schedule early tee times whenever possible. Summer golf rewards preparation and patience, and the quieter atmosphere often leads to some of the most enjoyable rounds of the year.

If you’ve been considering membership, I invite you to visit the club, meet our members, and experience firsthand what makes our community special. We would be delighted to show you the course, discuss membership opportunities, and help you discover how rewarding club life can be.

The Club at Gateway Performance Center has enhanced our ability to fit members and guests for the clubs they need, and has given us the opportunity to teach at a higher level with video analysis via Trackman. Even if you are not a member please feel to reach out to the golf shop to book a fitting or lesson with one our Golf Professionals.

Golf Tip

Consistent Putting

Being a great Putter doesn’t mean you make a long putt every so often (Although that does help your score). A great putter is someone who makes a high percentage of putts inside ten feet and doesn’t three putt very often. Quality putters have distance control on long putts and they combine that with precise aim on the short putts. Most issues I see for the average amateur golfer is that they have a careless routine which ends up with inconsistent results. One of the most important parts of routine is how you step into the putt. Aim the putter face carefully down your intended target line, then take you stance (Too many people plop their feet down first then aim the putter, which results in poor alignment). When taking your stance make sure you aim your feet, knees and shoulders parallel to the intended target line. The second most important part of routine is your practice stroke. Make sure your practice stroke is the same stroke you intend to use on the putt, looking at the hole when you do your practice stroke will help with the distance control on long putts. If you focus on your routine you will make more short putts and have less three putts which will result in better scores on the golf course.

Want to improve your putting? You can schedule a putting lesson on ForeTees or contact the shop (239) 561-1010.
